The Messengers
The Messengers: A series of paintings based on news reporters broadcasting live from Ukraine.
Each one painted in one go, alla prima. Painted directly on the canvas, with limited detail, just enough to get a feel of the expression in action. Surreal, floating heads, in the dark, overexposed by camera lighting, ghostly presences; how we see the news via a TV screen - removed from the reality of the horrors they are witnessing. Familiar faces, familiar voices, war correspondents. (March 2022).
